In
the life-long growth process every artist engages in, I am learning to
paint through a great deal of independent study.
That being said, and at the risk of being assessed a name dropper, it
would be insincere not to, in some way, publicly acknowledge the huge
debt I owe to Scott Christensen. I have been privileged to receive
a massive amount of assistance, advice, friendship and inspiration from
him. Any growth this painter can claim,
goes in part to Scott. Also
I have been lucky enough
to study, through the workshop experience, with a number of contemporary
and plein air painters such as Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, Kevin
MacPherson, Rusty Stecher and Tom Browning.
In
the early 70’s I
studied art at the junior college level.
However, life took me in a
different direction. After
spending 25 years in police work I
am again pursuing art full time.
During my police
career I spent 8 years on
SWAT, nearly ten years as a supervisor, and five years as a K9 handler,
K9 Team Supervisor and K9 trainer.
I
am married to a highly creative and
successful business consultant in the healthcare industry
and have two grown sons.
